Retaining Wall Steps Album 3

This modular block retaining wall step installation in Oakville was fun.  If you notice, the spaces between the step treads are filled with decorative rock.  The steps are done in the Rockwood Retaining Wall block.

This set of Rockwood Retaining Walls and steps in St. Louis were designed and installed by Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. This is the Rockwood 8” Classic stone and it looks great to me. I am so thankful for all the opportunities I get in my business to help people.  Our designs look great, are totally functional and increase the value of the homes we get to work at. These homeowners in Oakville, Missouri, chose Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. over several other retaining wall and landscape contractors from here in St. Louis.  These Rockwood goldenrod Classic steps and walls look great. We replaced an old tie wall with no steps on this side of the wall. I have been back to this job on several occasions and every time I see this hardscape it just looks better.

This set of Rockwood steps and retaining walls in Chesterfield, Missouri, are unique in their design in that the one side of the steps is built into the retaining wall and the other side is left open.  I like the look and for this retaining wall design it was needed, but we have not had the opportunity to do another one like this since.  One thing we love at ARW is that no two jobs are the exact same. Every hardscape design and installation is unique. The topography is different and the homeowner’s vision and needs are more than not likely to be different; not to mention logistics, aesthetics, and functional considerations. Every job is different and there is no substitution for hands-on experience. We at ARW have designed and installed hundreds of thousands of s.f. of hardscape and every working day we add to those numbers. Unlike a lot of landscape contractors who do many things, we at ARW are installing retaining walls and pavers everyday—which means, we do not install landscape plants and bushes and we will not mow your lawn or clean your gutters. Each and every day we are practicing the art of hardscape installation and design and all the practice could work out perfect for you if you choose us for your project.

These homeowners in Town & Country, Missouri, chose us at Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. to take care of their retaining wall design, engineering, and installation. This set of Rockwood steps are the only set of retaining wall steps on this much larger hardscape project, including walls around a poolscape and extensive retaining walls around the front of this beautiful new home. I like our nice hardscape design here-- notice how the flowerbeds are built into the side of the retaining walls steps. I am very thankful for the opportunity to do this job for this nice couple and their family. I hope they will enjoy this Agape Masterpiece for many years.

This residential hardscape designed and installed by us at Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. is one of my favorite residential hardscape projects. These homeowners in Sunset Hills, Missouri, were smart enough to choose ARW as their hardscape contractor of choice. The reason they told us that they chose us over the landscape contractors who also bid this retaining wall and paver installation was that they really appreciated our hardscape design ideas and the obvious experience and knowledge of retaining walls and pavers we would bring to their project. The homeowners told us that the other landscape companies had no real solutions to their hardscape problems. We used the Versa-Lok Mosaic weathered stone on this project, the Versa-Lok standard weathered block, and Versa-Lok weathered cap for the step installation. Another thing to notice about this Versa-Lok Retaining Wall step design and installation is how we built the landscape planter beds into the steps on the bottom set of steps and how we built the steps into the landscape terraces on the upper steps.

This Rockwood Retaining Wall and Belgard paver hardscape installation in Sunset Hills, Missouri, looks great and is very functional. We at Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. were called in to bid this hardscape project when the homeowners put on a new home addition and found themselves in need of a new backyard patio area. The way the top set of steps are shaped in a half moon and built right up to the door frame of the home sets this step installation apart from many others we have done. When retaining wall steps like these are installed above the framing on the home it is very important to use a material such as DuPont’s Tyvek house wrap behind the steps or block wall to prevent water from doing damage to wood frame of the  home. We installed Tyvek behind these retaining wall steps to guarantee the homeowners never have problems with water against their wood frame. The lower steps are right angled off the Rockwood Colonial Stone retaining walls. Both sets of steps are capped with the Rockwood Retaining Wall straight cap and are anchored down using the Rockwood Retaining Wall adhesive. These homeowners in Ballwin, Missouri, chose us at Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. as their retaining wall contractor of choice. We designed and installed these great looking Rockwood goldenrod terraced retaining walls with modular concrete block steps back in 2003. The new landscape walls expanded the usable space on the low section of yard and these great looking concrete modular block steps provide access to the upper yard area.

These homeowners in Belleville, Illinois, hired us at Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. to replace their existing railroad tie wall with these great looking Rockwood Retaining Walls. They also wanted us to install these steps going from the concrete sidewalk all the way up to the front porch of their home. They wanted these steps straight up the hill and inside their hardscape budget. Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. delivered on all accounts with this very unique concrete block step and retaining wall combination. There are 25 of these Rockwood Retaining Wall steps going up this hill.

These Rockwood Retaining Wall eight inch split face stones look great with these terraced concrete block steps. When designing and installing steps into a split face block wall like this one you need to account for the retaining wall block matching up to the concrete block step. If you try to carry the split face retaining wall block into the step it will create an unattractive triangle shaped hole that most people will not like if they notice it. To avoid this, the steps need to be a straight face block to provide a flatter surface to match up to the new concrete block steps. The straight face block will match very nicely and the end result will be a great looking retaining wall with well designed and hand crafted modular block concrete steps. We at Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. designed and installed this great looking landscape terraced retaining wall with concrete block steps in 2009.

This Rockwood Retaining Wall eight inch taupe straight face block wall and steps in Jefferson County, Missouri, were designed and installed by Agape Retaining Walls, Inc. These steps are classic Agape design the way they radius into the wall on each end.  It was a privilege to have the honor to do this landscape retaining wall project for this couple who had one son serving the United States of America in Iraq and another son stationed on the DMZ in South Korea. We designed and installed these two sets of steps as a gift to this couple; one for each son who was serving our great nation. Thank you once again for allowing us the privilege to design and install the hardscape at your home.
